North Star Kiwanis joins Parkway Central Park Friends. Check out their December 2009 Newsletter on page 3 at this link: Click Here for Friends Newsletter Park Friends are in the process of submitting a Matching Grant request to the City of Arlington requesting $10,000 to improve the lighting and security in the park. Lighting is needed on the newly refurbished playground, security lighting is needed at the Van Buren footbridge and the pedestrian entrance trail needs signing because they are not marked and are difficult to locate. Projects on the drawing board include two horeshoe-pitching lanes and a nature trail that will circle the entire park.
Welcome to North Star's web site. In the beginning, on April 15, 1983, the vision for our Kiwanis Club was "The Arlington North Star Kiwanis Club would meet in north Arlington and use the heavens North Star for their founding name." This club has continued that vision and has contributed to the Arlington area in many heavenly ways. In our News Section you will find a list of our money contributions to community organizations this past year, community speakers that have spoken to our members, information about our youth programs at Bowie High School and Roark Elementary, and other opportunities for community service.
If you are an early riser, you enjoy basketball, you get a thrill out of seeing a smiling face on a neglected youth, or you need to fellowship with a loving group of men and women, you will fit perfectly into our North Star Family.
